Who's Who in the British Community Committee
The Executive Committee of the BCC may comprise up to 11 members, drawn either from the BCC's Elected Members or from representatives of the BCC's member associations.

All members of the Executive Committee are elected annually at the AGM. All may stand for reelection without limitation except for the Chair, who can only serve for three consecutive years.

The Officers


Andrew Simpkin
Andrew is an artist, writer and television presenter, currently President of the Royal Society of St. George in France where he has lived now for over twenty five years. He divides his time between the capital, Paris and the country, the Vexin region close by.


Bridget Terrell
Bridget has lived in France since 1978 and is married with 4 bilingual girls. She helped set up Terrell Group and has been on the BCC for 21 years.


Julia Durand-Barthez
Julia came to Paris as a marketing executive for a French promoter and ended her career as the administrator of Saint Michael’s church Paris. She is married to a Frenchman, has twin girls and is now a grandmother, dividing her time between Paris, Touraine and Palma. Her hobbies include singing and hiking.


Matthew Kay
Matthew works in investment management, and settled for good in France after a number of years of twice-weekly Eurostars started to take their toll. He lives in Paris with his French wife and dual-national son.

Tony Banton

Webmaster and Regional Representative for the North of France
Tony is a Franco-British dual national who has lived in France for 40 years. After a career as an auditor with a "Big-Four" accounting firm, he is now retired and lives in the North of France

Louise Cossey

Directory Co-Editor
A Francophile, Louise settled in France more than 25 years ago and retains close links with the British community. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW) and has an international role with a Big Four accounting firm.

Penny Girinsky

Penny has lived in France for 37 years having been in London, Tokyo, New York and San Francisco before coming to Paris. In all places she kept up with the British Community and then in Paris joined the BCWA and later, the BCC.

Claire Godfrey

Diary Editor and Regional Representative for South-West France
Claire moved to the South West of France 16 years ago from Jersey, where she was Chief Executive of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a Director of Jersey Business Venture. An active Rotarian, she continues to work as a consultant on strategy, planning and organisation, using her extensive experience to help others.

Rodney Harper

Directory distribution
Rodney, a former BCC Treasurer living in Paris, has previously worked with major multinational corporations in techno-commercial, marketing & sales management roles, involving the export of telecommunications systems and products to the developing world.

George Murray

George ran a UK-based marketing research and consultancy business for many years, increasingly concentrating on business with France. He moved to France permanently in 1993 and continued this work. For 15 years he also taught international business subjects in the business schools of northern France, and became gérant of several local businesses. Although now technically retired, he continues to advise clients in a post-Brexit world

Serena Stern

Directory Co-Editor
Serena is a Franco-British author, teacher and translator who has been living in France for 40-odd years, and has been editor of the BCC Directory for 16 years. She spends her time between Paris and Normandy.
