FGB-CRECIB talk (French language). L’Irlande du Nord au centenaire de la Boundary Commission

Our guest speaker, Alexandra MACLENNAN, is a Senior Lecturer at the Université de Caen and a prominent specialist in Irish studies. She has authored several works dedicated to the history of Ireland. Alexandra Maclennan will outline the demographic and symbolic landscape of Northern Ireland, examining cultural and political divisions, alongside shared spaces, and will assess whether the idea of a hypothetical reunification is moving any closer.

Luncheon-Talk (French language) La Belle anglaise, Mary “Perdita” Robinson

Our guest speaker, Lucien d’AZAY, is the author of some twenty works. In addition to La Belle anglaise, a biography of Mary Robinson, Lucien d’Azay has devoted several biographies to English poets such as Thomas Chatterton and John Keats as well as to three English eccentrics . His talk will explore the life of Mary ‘Perdita’ Robinson, a feminist muse in 18th-century England, who was a talented actress, a famous fashion icon and courtesan, and who later became a prolific writer —The Lady of the Unicorn, as it were.

Libre Résistance - SOE F Section

Commemoration of the 104 agents of SOE F-Section who died in their mission to liberate France in WWI

This is the traditional annual ceremony which brings us together at the foot of the Memorial of Valençay where we pay homage to the memory of all our departed comrades, and in particular, to the memory of the 104 agents of F Section who lost their lives on operations or died in the Nazi concentration camps.
This is followed by a cocktail party at the Mairie and then lunch at the Orangerie du Chateau de Valencay. This is the 35th anniversary of the unveiling by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother and the 85th anniversary of the parachute drop of the first agent, Georges Begué on 6th May 1941.
