Paris and Ile de France

The British Rugby Club

The British Rugby Club of Paris was formed in 1923 by English Ex-pats living and working in Paris playing "Friendlies" and touring. The Club suspended its activities during the Second World War then restarted soon after the War and joined the Corporate League in the Ile de France section of the Federation Francaise de Rugby. The teams have been very competitive in this competition and won top honours a number of times.

The club regularly fields a 1st XV side on Saturdays that competes in the Corpo League with other teams in Paris and suburbs. There is also a "folklorique" side that plays several fixtures during the season on a much less competitive basis, the emphasis being on the "troisieme mi-temps". The BRFC also regularly hosts "touring sides", particularly during international match weekends. The atmosphere in the club is excellent as both playing and social level.

The British Rugby club provides a sporting and social focal point for many British Expats each year in Paris.

Lille Cricket

Lille Cricket is thriving, being the fastest growing cricket club in France and after only our second year already the 5th largest in France by number of playing members. We have more than a dozen games scheduled for the 2009 season, including a Twenty/20 Tournament over the Whitsun long weekend.

Our opponents this year come from England, Wales, Belgium, Germany and France and our fixtures list is on our website, so have a look if you want to come along to watch some cricket. Our home matches are played at the Jardin Mosaïc at Houplin-Ancoisne, a few kilometres south of Lille, giving the added interest of being able to visit the gardens as well as enjoying the game.

We practise throughout the year, indoor in the Autumn and Winter and outdoor in Spring and Summer, so if you are interested in playing cricket, or want to help us in developing our junior team, do come and join us.
